YouTuber Forrest Galante has shared a horrific story on his YouTube channel where he was struck by lightning that ‘paralyzed’ him.

Forrest Galante is an adventurer who has been the host of multiple TV shows, including Extinct or Alive on Animal Planet and Mysterious Creatures with Forrest Galante. The 35-year-old television celebrity also hosts The Wild Times Podcast. On the show, he invites fellow adventurers to bring out the wild stories from their lives.

YouTuber being struck by lightning was caught on camera

He faced an unprecedented scenario while filming in the Everglades in Florida. The adventurer was working for the brand Garmin and shooting some GPS-related content when he felt a bolt of lightning strike the swamp he was thigh-deep in.

Speaking of the experience, the star shared on YouTube: “This crazy thunder hit, there’s a massive flash and I don’t see anything because I am facing the camera, but I just feel like my legs seize up.

“I am literally paralyzed for a fraction of a second, and we were trying to scramble out of the banks to get out of the water. I realized only after reviewing the footage that I just had a lightning bolt hit fifteen feet behind me.”

Strange symptom after freak encounter

Galante is recalling how he was ‘balls deep’ in the swamp when the lightning hit right behind him. As a result, he had a ‘massive convulsion and surge of energy” in his body.

He further adds that even after getting out of the water, he felt his glutes and thighs were really sore. He thinks, it’s possibly due to the lightning contracting through the muscles. While his lower body was sore after the incident, Galante was surprised how his brain was very clear.

But the strangest symptom the TV star faced was not in his body but in his mouth. He exaplined there was a metallic taste that was not going away. And his brother was also affected, after he felt a little shock in the ordeal.

“I am chewing gum, but I just can’t seem to get this earthy metal taste out of my mouth,” he added.
