Louise Lear was born in 1967 in Sheffield, England. Furthermore, Lear's parents named the weather reporter Tracy Louise Barden. So after Louise married her husband, Ian Lear, she took in his name.

 In 1988 she graduated from Middlesex Polytechnic with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Drama and music. She also plays instruments like piano and clarinet.
