The brutal murder of Clauddine "Dee Dee" Blanchard made national headlines back in 2015 when it was revealed that her daughter Gypsy Rose Blanchard played a role in her death. Gypsy was 23 years old at the time when she had orchestrated and arranged for her then-boyfriend to murder her abusive mother to escape. A Hulu limited series based on the life of Gypsy and the slaying of her mother was even made and released in 2019. Now, Gypsy's shocking story is being brought up again, but this time in a new docuseries, and Gypsy is finally telling her side.

The docuseries is titled The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard, and unfortunately, it will not be streaming on Netflix. It will be aired on Lifetime. There are six episodes in total, and they will be aired in three batches. Each batch includes two episodes. The first batch will air on Jan. 5, followed by the second batch on Jan. 6, and the last batch on Jan. 7. Each batch will air at 5:00 p.m. PT/8:00 p.m. ET on their respective nights. Also, if you miss the episodes when they air, they will be available to stream on the Lifetime official website the next day.

In the docuseries, Gypsy gives an exclusive interview where she "shares her story and speaks her truth," per the official trailer released by Lifetime. She also says in the trailer that the docuseries "chronicles her quest to expose the hidden parts of her life that have never been revealed until now." The interview took place before she was released from the Chillicothe Correctional Center in Chillicothe, Missouri, on Dec. 28, 2023.

On June 14, 2015, Dee Dee Blanchard was found stabbed to death in her bedroom in her Missouri home. A day later, Gypsy and her then-boyfriend Nicholas Godejohn were arrested in connection to the murder. But while Godejohn was eventually charged with first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, Gypsy had been cut a deal and was charged with second-degree murder and was sentenced to 10 years in prison. She had been cut this deal because of the abuse she had suffered at the hands of her mother.

As mentioned above, Gypsy was recently released from prison in late December 2023. In fact, she was released three years before her original release date which was set for 2026.

On the day of her release, she was reportedly spotted out with her husband, Ryan Scott Anderson, whom she married in 2022 while in prison. They were photographed leaving a shopping center. The day after her release, she shared a picture of herself on Instagram with the caption reading, "First selfie of freedom!" Since then, she's been sharing photos and videos on her Instagram page, giving her followers a look into her life as a newly freed woman.

In a December 2023 interview with People Magazine, Gypsy spoke about wanting to put the past behind her and putting all her focus on her future. She even talked about wanting to eventually build a family and how she has no concerns about her parenting skills because of years of self-work and continued therapy.
