Like Olivia Benson, Meredith Grey is a Scottish fold cat and named after a TV character. In this case, it’s Ellen Pompeo’s character of the same name from Grey’s Anatomy. Taylor Swift got Meredith on Halloween 2011 and used to feature her more on Instagram back in the day. Meredith is almost never seen on Swift’s social media in the last few years, but she did make a surprise appearance with Ed Sheeran in December 2023. Meredith’s nickname is “Mer.”

Olivia Benson is one of two Scottish Fold cats of Taylor Swift, who she got in June 2014. Olivia’s full name is Detective Olivia Benson and her nickname is Dibbles. Her name is in honor of the fictional Sergeant and Commanding Officer played by Mariska Hargitay on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, you could say this is the official Olivia Benson. Safe to say Taylor Swift is a fan of the popular TV series. While most cats live a mundane life of eating, sleeping, and soaking up attention, this cat has done more in its lifetime than 99% of the world. As if flying first class, sitting backstage at a Swift concert, or appearing in a music video and Diet Coke commercial wasn’t enough, the real Olivia Benson has even met her TV counterpart, Olivia Benson. To top it all off, this even cat has a modeling contract. Due to her endorsements and high-profile lifestyle, Olivia Benson is also considered one of the richest celebrity pets and is estimated to be worth $97 million.

Indy was a Siamese mix that, according to Taylor, had a love-hate relationship with her. Indy was known for being very vocal and had a distinct scream. Baby is Swift’s other mini-Doberman. Unlike Taylor’s cats, her dogs aren’t famous and keep a low profile.

Benjamin Button (Cat)

Taylor Swift got her third cat in early 2019 – a ragdoll cat named Benjamin Button (after Brad Pitt’s character in the 2008 film The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.) Swift met Benji as a kitten on the set of her 2019 music video “Me!”. The pair hit it off immediately, so Swift asked the cat’s handler if she could keep him… And the handler said that he was available! Also in 2023, Taylor Swift and Benjamin Button both shared the cover of Time Magazine’s “(Cat) Person of the Year.”

Taylor Swift’s first cat was Elienhsen, who was a Siamese-Tabby mix like Indy. Indy and Elienhsen were also considered her family’s cats and were with her growing up.

Taylor Swift is sometimes seen with an enormous black-and-white Great Dane named Kitty, which is actually her mom Andrea’s dog. Andrea has shared that she’s been extremely grateful to Kitty for supporting her as her “therapy dog”, who she got after she was diagnosed with breast cancer.

She’s actually my cancer dog. After I found that out, I decided to do something I’d always wanted to do – which is get a really big dog. I’m sorry – that’s really what it is.
