Naomi Judd, who was born in Ashland, Kentucky on January 11, 1946, had her daughter Wynonna when she was 18 years old.

According to a PBS biography, she gave birth to Ashley and attended nursing school in California before returning to Kentucky and eventually Nashville with her family, where she and Wynonna got a recording contract as the Judds, a country duo.

The ladies earned a total of five Grammys, including this one in 1986 for best country performance by a duo or group with vocals.

They are the most well-known mother-daughter duo in country music, having had twenty of the top 10 songs (including fifteen number ones) and being undefeated for eight straight seasons at the three major country music awards shows.
