Actor Johnny Depp will be starring in a film alongside his daughter, Lily-Rose Depp, in the upcoming film Yoga Hosers.  While this film will be one of my many for Mr. Depp, it will be the Hollywood debut for his 15 year old daughter and although she does not have much acting experience; with Johnny Depp as her father and co-star- she should have no trouble tapping into her talents.  A real life father and daughter sharing screen time in a Hollywood film is a rare occurrence; however, it will not be the first time a father and daughter pair have acted in a film together.  In 1954 actress Jane Fonda starred alongside her father, Henry Fonda, in the film The Country Girl.

The film, which is slated for a 2015 release, is the story of two teenage Yoga loving girls who work at a Canadian grocery store and must fight against an ancient underground “Canadian evil.”  When this evil arrives from under the earth, the girls feel compelled to stop it as it could potentially interfere with their attendance at a high school party they have been invited to.  In the film Mr. Depp will play the role of Guy Lapointe, a man-hunter who teams up with the teenage girls in order to fight off the evil.  Lilly-Rose Depp will star as Colleen Collette, one of the teenage girls while Harley Quinn, director Kevin Smith’s daughter, will star as the other teenage girl, Colleen McKenzie.

The film is described as an “action-adventure” movie and the pair of 15 year old girls will be the film’s true stars and add an interesting dynamic as they will also be the the heroes.  Yoga Hosers will be the second installment in Smith’s True North Trilogy which includes the film Tusk which is  slated to be released in September 2014.  Tusk, also set in Manitoba, Canada, features Johnny Depp, Lily-Rose Depp, and Harley Quinn – all appearing in the same roles they will have in Yoga Hosers; the final film in the trilogy has not yet been revealed. Director Kevin Smith has described Yoga Hosers as his first as first “comic book movie;” however, there is no comic book that precedes or accompanies the film.
