Anthony Edward Sowell was born in East Cleveland, Ohio, on August 19, 1959. He is a serial killer and rapist in the United States. Sowell was convicted of murdering 11 women in 2011, whose bodies were discovered in his Cleveland, Ohio, home in 2009. On October 31, 2009, Sowell, the alleged Cleveland Strangler, was apprehended and sentenced to death for his crimes.

Anthony Sowell, as he was more often known, succumbed to a terrible illness on February 8, 2021, at the age of 61. He passed away at the Franklin Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio.
It has been claimed that Sowell raped his niece Leona Davis for two years, almost every day, beginning when she was 10 years old.
