Alejandro Grimaldo was born in Valencia, Spain, on September 20, 1995. He plays professional football for Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga and is from Spain. He plays left-back for the group.

Grimaldo joined Barcelona’s youth program in 2008. On September 13, 2014, he scored his team’s final goal in a 3-2 victory at Alavés, marking his first goal as a professional.

On December 29, 2015, the left-back agreed to a €1.5 million contract extension with Portuguese champions Benfica through 2021, just before his deal was set to expire. Any future sales must include a percentage towards Barcelona.

Grimaldo made his UEFA Champions League debut on September 13, 2016, playing the entire 1-1 group stage home match against Beşiktaş.

On May 21, 2023, he signed a four-year contract with German team Bayer Leverkusen. Before turning 18 years old, on February 5, 2013, Grimaldo played in the second half of a friendly game against Belgium that ended in a 1-1 draw to earn his first cap for the Spain under-21 squad.
