Last month, we covered the heartwarming story of Sir Patrick Stewart and his foster pit bull Ginger. Stewart was so inspired by Ginger’s love and the good humans at L.A.’s Wags and Walks (who set him up with the rescued pit bull), he’s joined the fight against dog fighting. Stewart hasn’t had a dog in over 50 years, but he’s said the short time fostering Ginger has changed his outlook on dogs and also life. He also said he would have loved to adopt Ginger himself, but with there are pit bull regulations in U.K., so he wouldn’t be able to take her back home with him.

While having it tough growing up, Ginger was still full of love and patience that really touched Stewart. He also said her positivity in the face of her negative past has made him more optimistic in his life. He’s now partnered with the ASPCA to combat dog fighting, help abused dogs and change unfair stereotypes of pit bulls. The National Dog Fighting Awareness Day campaign starts April 8 and will continue until the end of the month.
